success stories...
- Continually assessing the community to facilitate access for the disabled and for young mothers with prams. Recent examples of these projects are:
- Car park for people with a disability outside the local pools
- Wheel chair access at the local taxi rank to allow people with a disability to access the taxi with ease.
- Car park for people with a disability outside Woolworths and the local doctors surgery
- Pathway from the Community Resource Centre to the local pool and school
- Street and curb modifications to a home to allow Wheel chair accessibility to a Queensland Housing flat. This flat was for people with a disability but the street access did not allow for independent access for the people.
- Sensory Processing Workshop for Parents, Carers and Professionals
- The CDSNSG Inc is an organisation that also problem solves local issues. The CDSNSG is often asked by other organisations and community members to find information and solve problems. A recent example was the request for a wheel chair for a man in the local retirement village. The group was able to advise how to fund the wheel chair and this resulted in the purchase for the person. While the CDSNSG Inc did not purchase the chair they were able to bring about a positive outcome.
- The CDSNSG Inc continually seeks donations and grants to provide the services needed in our community. Recently the group purchased a data projector, computer, printer and interactive white board to facilitate training and workshops throughout the shire. Other grants include:
- Commonwealth Bank Grant enabled the purchase of specialised disability tricycles for use at the Community Resource centre.
- Gifted and Talented Program sponsored by Anglo American enabled gifted musicians to participate in the State Honours Ensemble Program.
